  • Way to gloss right over just how horrible life is for "lab cats" with making Joe about how great it must be for the researchers... reasons like this, is why your videos usually suck, but your target audience is either too young or too stupid to know any better, so I assume you'll never bother to fully research before making your videos; I mean why start now, right? Money does matter more than accuracy and integrity, right?

  • My cat loves catnip. We have a bag of it on my dad's desk and she'll tap on the bag when she wants some. We pour a little bit onto his desk and she rolls around in it and even eats some of it. You can really tell that it makes her happy. She even stole the bag of catnip and one of my dogs got it and she spilled most of the contents onto a couch. Fortunately there still was some in the bag, but catnip is a nightmare to clean up. So we just left it there as it is the pets' couch afterall. Cats are awesome and it's amazing how many different ways cats can react to catnip! Who else would want to be in that study? ...Honestly I'd just love to be paid to play with cats.

  • There is often not just one reason for a specific trait to come about. But this might be a good one. Given that big cats respond the same, it must have developed in an environment with a lot of insects and mosquitos which was also favorable for the plants that came to produce the chemicals for their own protection.

  • Oh come on it is nothing to do with repelling bugs, those cats just like to get funked up like many animals. We have footage of elephants and monkeys getting drunk on fermenting fruit and cuainsg chaos to little villages and videos online of ducks and dogs who chose to eat magic mushrooms and leave the other shrooms alone. Animals like to get freaky too and if god made them to be able to process and feel such a sensation then that is ok by me.

  • The mosquito theory is interesting, but is there a reason that a similar positive response to Catnip and Silver vine didn’t evoke in other species of animals? You would think a blanket benefit like repelling mosquitos would cause the catnip reaction to take place in other animals from the same areas felines evolved in. I could see it isolating if there was a reason for cats to not use some of the bug-repelling techniques other animals use (like rolling in mud).
